South African non-profit organization, Outside The Bowl, combating childhood hunger with their latest initiative: One Million Meals
Outside The Bowl Global, a non-profit organisation based in Paarl, South Africa, is taking a significant step in combating childhood hunger with its latest initiative, the One Million Meals Campaign. The organization aims to provide meals for 10 000 children for 100 days.
VitaKidz – vitamin enriched instant energy meals
Outside The Bowl Global supports communities, early childhood development centres and schools by providing them with nutritional, vitamin-enriched instant energy meals. With their latest initiative, they are undertaking their most ambitious challenge yet. The organization plans to fill 4 000 20-liter buckets with their nutritious VitaKidz meal product and distribute them to 200 early childhood development centres, targeting childhood hunger across South Africa and Africa.
Feeding 10 000 children a day for 100 days
“By doing so, we will be feeding 10 000 children a day for 100 days, ensuring they have access to vital nutrition,” says Mark Maingard, the African CEO of Outside The Bowl Global. Since 2006, the non-profit has already distributed 40 million meals, including 4 million meals in South Africa since 2016.
To achieve their mission, Outside the Bowl Global is seeking the support of corporates, organizations, and individual donors to raise R2 million. “With the R2 million, we will be able to manufacture, package & distribute one million portions of our flagship product, VitaKidz,” explains Maingard. This campaign follows the success of last year’s Potjiekos Event, where the organization cooked 100 potjiekos pots and provided meals for over 100 000 people.
Launching the One Million Meals Campaign this week, acts as the start of a plan to join hands with corporates and manufacture and fill the buckets with the one million meals.
Outside The Bowl Global aims to assist vulnerable individuals in local, national, and international communities. Maingard encourages businesses and individuals to get involved and join this cause.
“While we operate globally, we are deeply rooted in South Africa. We envision a world where all children receive physical and spiritual nourishment. By 2025, our goal is to manufacture and provide 500 000 ambient nutritional meals per day worldwide,” adds Maingard.
He further explains, “VitaKidz not only fills the bellies of these children but also improves their health by providing essential vitamins. A single 20-liter bucket can sustain a child for an entire school year. Our aim is to alleviate hunger and combat malnutrition in South Africa and around the world.”
