In April 2021, the Flatfoot Dance Company presented the first edition of Park Dances in the Durban Botanic Gardens. The season was sold out. Now Flatfoot is back in the gardens with Park Dances #2. The company is collaborating with Durban’s Kathak maestro Manesh Maharaj “in a dancing encounter with the haunting poetry of Jalaluddin Rumi, as they celebrate the seamless confluence of ancient and contemporary African and Indian rhythms.”  Flatfoot’s full company is performing: Sifiso Khumalo, Jabu Siphika, Lliane Loots, Zinhle Nzama, Mthoko Mkhwanazi, Sbonga Ndlovu and Siseko Duba, Ndumiso Dube with Manesh Maharaj.  Kathak is an important dance practice/form, associated with northern India. It is wonderful that Flatfoot is working with Maharaj – with an artist who brings Kathak to the company. This season is family friendly and picnics are welcome. Seating will be demarcated according to Covid safety protocols. Recline in the gardens and watch the sun set and enjoy the dance. Masks must please be worn. Yes, even if it is outside. We are in our 3rd wave of Rona in South Africa. Please take care and sit in your own bubble.  A 100 tickets will be available per show and must be bought in advance. No sales at venue.
