What: NAF Standard Bank Ovation 2021 winning shows and other Fringe shows (over a 100 shows) Where: The National Arts Festival, South Africa- until August 31, 2021 Viewing platform: https://nationalartsfestival.co.za/the-fringe/

Note- the Ovation Award winning shows will be available until August 31, 2021. After that date, content may change. Shows may added to the Fringe platform. Shows may be taken down by artists.  Watch EVERYTHING – by August 31- and make sure you see the entire NAF Fringe 2021.

The 2021 edition of the National Arts Festival went out online – in July – with an impressive array of work – mashing up genres and approaches.  It was thrilling to see the use of online as a medium in its own right- not simply as a substitute for live performance. The Curated Programme on the National Festival 2021, wrapped up on the weekend – July 31- 2021. Over, already? Yeah, in Covid, time has become rather blurred, for most of us. It is not easy to track one month from another. Deep breaths. Do not stress. It is not over. The Fringe is still on offer- with an amazing programme of Standard Bank Ovation Award winning shows. See box, below, for the list of winners and winners in the top categories- Gold, Silver and Bronze. The Ovation winning shows will be up on the NAF’s website, until August 31, 2021.  Here is the important intel: Some of the shows may remain up, after August 31 but others may be taken down and may pop up on other festivals and platforms. The bottom line: Make sure that you don’t miss out and watch as much as possible, on the NAF Fringe, before August 31. There are shows which did not receive Ovation Awards and which are superb. There are over a 100 shows on the Fringe and there may be others added. Going forward, shows, not presented at NAF 2021, may pop up on the Fringe. Yes, new content may be added. Online is a fluid medium- day by day -content may change. Check back with TheCapeRobyn, for additions to the Fringe programme.

The Fringe is a vital platform for independent artists -established professionals and emerging talents. There is a great deal of experimental work and cross-disciplinary exploration.  A shout-out to the NAF for facilitating the Fringe. The NAF takes 10% of ticket sales for admin and the rest goes to the artists. With Covid and lockdown, the live performance industry has been decimated. Every ticket sold on the Fringe, will make a difference to the income stream for creatives. Watch all the award winners AND the other shows on the NAF Fringe. Shows are not geo-locked and may be accessed from anywhere in the world. Spread the word.

2021 Gold Standard Bank Ovation winner, Chadleigh Gowar. His show, Gone but Not Forgotten is available online, on the NAF Fringe , until August 31, 2021.
