Online theatre reading: Neil Coppen’s adaption of Hamlet, in development, May 31, 2021

Neil Coppen’s adaptation of the Bard’s Hamlet was scheduled for staging in 2020 at The Fugard Theatre. The pandemic put a halt to that plan and the Fugard subsequently announced that it is closing permanently. However, the production is happening. The public will be able to view a live on-line reading of the production, in development, on the KKNK’s website, at 6pm on May 31, 2021. This production is headed up by Daniel Galloway’s company, DGC [Daniel Galloway Consulting], in partnership with VR Theatrical and the KKNK, in association with the Tsikanya-Chaka Centre and the Centre for Creative Arts-UKZN. The cast for the rehearsed reading [May 30], includes: Anelisa Phewa, Rehane Abrahams, David Dennis, Buhle Ngaba, Faniswa Yisa, Tony Bonani Miyambo, Khutjo Green, Jemma Khan, Richard September and Royston Stoffels. Neil Coppen is directing.
