Cape Town Opera is presenting, Opera Blocks on March 4 and 5- two innovative events a day โ at 10am and 1pm. This is opera for babies and is described as โa magical brain-boosting theatre experience for parents and babies from birth to 18 months.โ Go along and enjoy the experience: โUtilising the expertise of an occupational therapist, Opera Blocks, brings music, song and play together in a calm, immersive environment that will stimulate, entertain and spark imagination in your little one and hopefully instill in them a life-long passion for opera. Come and enjoy the benefits of classical music on your childโs development at a real theatre.โ Cape Town Operaโs artistic director Magdalene Minnaar has curated “a gentle programme for little ears that will include lyrical songs such asย Pa pa paย (Dieย Zauberflรถte),ย ย Ridente la Calmaย (Mozart),ย O Mio Babbino Caroย (Gianni Schicchi /Puccini) and the beloved Xhosa lullaby,ย Thula Thula.” Cape Town Opera soloistsย – Brittany Smith and Aneย Pretorius โ will be joined by Van Wyk Venter and Alida Stoman from the companyโs Young Artist Programme. Theย singersย willย be accompanied by Albert Combrink onย piano.ย
