Preview: Twinkle Twinkle and Little Stars – the 2^nd edition of Cape Town Opera’s Opera Blocks– opera for babies and toddlers

Following on the success of its inaugural Baby Blocks in March 2022, Cape Town Opera is presenting the 2^nd instalment, in June 2022. There are two shows: Twinkle Twinkle (birth to 18 months) and Little Stars (18 months to four years). Info as supplied:

CAPE TOWN OPERA PRESENTS TWINKLE, TWINKLE AND LITTLE STARS – opera for babies and toddlers (June 22-28, 2022)

Back by popular demand after the first sell-out performances earlier this year, is the second instalment in Cape Town Opera’s Opera Blocks series, being held at Artscape on Wednesday June 22 and Friday June 24, 2022 at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. A fantastical experience has been curated for parents and babies from birth to 18 months. With magical music, sets and lighting, Twinkle Twinkle introduces little ones to the wonderful theatrical world of opera in a calm and immersive environment.

Following from that will be Little Stars, created especially, for little walkers from age 18 months to four years that will be taking place at Artscape on Saturday June 25: 10am and noon and on Tuesday June 28: 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Exploring the magical world of theatre, Little Stars brings music, song and play together in an exciting and explorative way and in a mesmerising theatre space. 

Proudly sponsored by the City of Cape Town, these productions are directed by Elisabeth Manduell, with set and costumes by Cape Town Opera’s production team and lighting by Artscape’s lighting department. Both Twinkle, Twinkle and Little Stars take place in the Innovation Room at Artscape. Performances are 40 minutes in duration and tickets at R240, admit one parent/guardian and one baby, or one parent/guardian and one toddler respectively.
