Puppet show, free livestream:  Adventures of Manie Ant

Theatres are closed and the little ones are getting lockdown blues. Parents and caregivers will welcome a puppet show, The Adventures of Manie Ant, on Saturday June 13 at 2pm. It is being streamed live on Facebook which provides a sense of excitement as the comments bar will be open, which provides interaction. The show is presented by Petrus Productions in partnership with The National Children’s Theatre in Parktown, Johannesburg. There is no charge to access the stream but donations are welcome.

Cindy Gordon of the NCTT says that the production was first staged in June 2018 in Namibia and Mozambique. The show tracks “life inside an ant hill as Manie Ant finds out why he can’t be queen, but learns through all his other ant and insect friends that we all have a special job to do and we have to do it the best we can.”

Gordon says that the live stream puppet show will go out from a studio on the Westrand. The show will be staged and filmed from the studio. “Our theatre is under lockdown and cannot use that space.”

No charge to access the stream but donations are VERY welcome. Remember- the small fry – the audience of tomorrow. There is no theatre at the moment theatres are closed but let’s keep theatre alive. Let us not forget the little ones.
