Travel: Bid on Travel in South Africa with new auction portal– Soweto Tour Experience, auction ends October 19, 2020

In late September 2020, Mike Richardson and his partner, Vikki Richardson launched a new portal, Bid on Travel- an auction portal – geared for domestic travellers in South Africa. The idea is that people can bid on a holiday package, day trip or travel related service/product and then wait and see if anyone else bids higher. No other takers and you might score. The current deal is up for grabs at a starting figure of R100. If yours is the best bid, the deal is yours. The seller pays a commission to Bid on Travel but the buyer bears no costs. The current Bid on Travel deal – Soweto Tour Experience -is being flighted pro-bono by the company. If you have a travel related package/service on offer, you may want to explore this platform as an option to reach a cash strapped domestic market. Us South Africans want to travel but with rates fixed with international travellers, it is often prohibitive to consider rack rates and the idea of bidding on a trip, makes sense.
