Take-A-Stand Dialogues
The arts industry has been flayed by the Covid pandemic. Most of 2020, saw venues closed which effectively shut off income streams. The digital stage has flourished as creatives have demonstrated resilience and innovation but that does not always translate into income. With scant funding for creatives, where do we go from here? This weekend- Fri Feb 19 to Sunday 21, 2021, issues will be debated, ideas will be put forward with spirited dialogue in a series of panel discussions. The event is hybrid. There will be in-person attendance at 44 Ryneveld, a newly renovated venue in Stellenbosch. According to lockdown level 3 amended, 50 people accommodated per session, observing COVID-19 protocols. The weekend is based on the concept of a literary festival weekend- where people come together to talk books and relegated issues. Take-A-Stand Dialogues will feature “a diversity of voices from the dance and theatre sector on theatre, dance and contemporary social issues.” Take-a-STAND is presented by the Stellenbosch University Woordfees and the STAND Foundation. The weekend has been funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands and NATi. Direct booking link: https://www.quicket.co.za/events/130943-take-a-stand-dialogues/#/
