The full lineup has been announced for the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts 2024/2025. The exciting programme includes Kirstenbosch regulars, Goldfish (this concert usually sells out) and Jeremy Loops. The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts return to bring music, magic, and unforgettable evenings under the Cape Town stars!

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Cape Town kicked off its 2024/2025 series of Summer Sunset Concerts on Sunday, December 8, with an exciting, star-studded line-up of South Africa’s most celebrated, danced-worthy acts.

The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts are a cherished and much-loved part of Cape Town’s summer social calendar. This season’s line-up promises to surpass all expectations and showcase many of the leading names in the South African music scene.

This season’s concerts are presented in partnership with several valued supporters, including the City of Cape Town, whose collaboration plays a vital role in bringing these magical evenings to life. Their support underscores their commitment to fostering vibrant arts and cultural experiences in the city, cementing Cape Town as a global destination for live entertainment.

JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security at the City of Cape Town says, “The Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts have been providing the hits to Cape Town’s summer soundtrack for the over three decades.  It is a space that not only provides a platform for local and international artists to entertain but it is also a place where people from all walks of life gather for a common goal, and nothing brings people together more than the love of music and a good time. As the City of Cape Town, we are proud to continue our partnership with this event into 2025 and further contributing to the legacy of the Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts.  We are thrilled for our residents and visitors to experience the wonderful melodies and be blown away by this talented line-up of artists.”

The new season began with the Cradle to the Cape concert on December 8 to warm the audiences up for the festive season. The season concludes 17 weeks later, on March 30, with an unforgettable performance by Ami Faku and Simmy as summer sets on the Mother City. Music lovers can dance along all summer to acts like Mi Casa, The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Jeremy Loops, and many more.

Unity at Kirstenbosch will usher in the festive season with live performances on December 22. Ahead of New Year’s, Goldfish will ensure that ‘We come together’ with a performance on December 29. The New Year’s Eve Concert sees Will Linley and Lloyiso take to the stage for a memorable start to 2025.

Freshlyground, with new lead singer Mbali Makhoba and Congo Cowboys, will keep the party going on January 5.

This season’s concerts are not only a celebration of music but also of milestones. Iconic South African acts Mango Groove and Watershed will mark remarkable anniversaries during their Kirstenbosch performances. Mango Groove, celebrating 40 years of unforgettable hits and vibrant performances, promises a dazzling show filled with their timeless classics, visuals, and surprises on January 12.

Meanwhile, Watershed commemorates their 25-year journey with a special concert on March 16, launching their anniversary tour that reflects on a legacy of soulful lyrics and platinum-selling albums. These landmark events add a nostalgic yet fresh energy to the 2024/2025 Summer Sunset Concerts.

Each show feels like a magical evening picnic with world-class music to serenade attendees. We are excited to share another incredible music season with all our visitors!”

Every show will feature a variety of mouthwatering options from food trucks. Additionally, concertgoers are welcome to bring their picnic or pre-order meals up to five days in advance from the Kirstenbosch Fynkos or Moyo Restaurant.

Besides the headliners already mentioned, this year’s line-up features The Golden Oldies – celebrating South Africa’s beloved legends over 60 years old, Dutch singer Stef Bos and Afro-Soul-Jazz artist and multi-award nominee and winner Mandisi Dyantyis.

Guy McDonald will keep the vibes flowing as the MC for most concerts, bringing his signature charm and humour to the stage.

The concerts are non-smoking events. There are no designated smoking areas anywhere at the concerts or in the garden. A zero-tolerance approach to smoking will be enforced. Offenders will be fined. People who cannot attend a concert without lighting up are advised to stay away.
