Songs of Love features Janel Speelman (soprano) and Makudu Senaoana (tenor) and pianist Albie van Schalkwyk, singing love arias and lieder. A small socially distanced audience was present in Stellenbosch watching as the concert was streamed. In the emotional prelude to the concert, we hear people talking about how wonderful it is to be physically present at a concert and that nothing beats live. That is true but it is also great to be able to access a concert via live streaming or as video-on-demand. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this beautifully presented concert, filmed in a garden setting. Lovely camera work and good sound. Bravo to Concerts Connect. The show has gone on during the pandemic, thanks to initiatives like Concerts Connect: A series of online concerts “streamed in support of local music societies and concert series.” https://www.brconcerts.com/concertsconnect/
