During lockdown, Cape Town’s much loved Labia Cinema, launched its Home Screen. For the most part, titles are different to films screened at The Labia, 68 Orange St, Gardens, Cape Town, 8000. This has to do with rights, explained the Labia’s Ann Kraus. With the current Covid rate in the Cape, the digital screen is a great option. New on Home Screen is: All You Need is Love: The Story of Popular Music – Tony Palmer’s 17-part TV documentary series on the history of pop music was broadcast between 1976 and 1980 around the world. That adds up to fifteen hours with interviews and performance footage – with The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Elvis Presley and others. Tony Palmer also directed, Bird on a Wire, documenting Leonard Cohen’s 1972 tour of Europe and Israel and is also available as VOD on Labia Home Screen.
