Festival news: FynArts 2024 presents two summer outdoor concerts in Hermanus

This year FynArts is hosting two summer concerts.  There is the launch of the 2024 FynArts Festival programme booklet at the Sunset Concert in the Old Harbour (Hermanus) on March 16 at 6pm, featuring the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. This concert is sold out. However, there are still seats available for the jazz concert on Saturday February 24 in the Fernkloof Gardens. But, be quick, before they are snapped up. Jazz in Fernkloof Gardens Book now for a memorable evening of jazz in the intimate setting of the amphitheatre in the Fernkloof Gardens. Picnic under the trees against the backdrop of Lemoenkop, the perfect place to listen to a world-class ensemble of jazz musicians.  Many thanks to the Hermanus Botanical Society for their support in making this concert possible. DATE: Saturday February 24, 2024 TIME: 18:30 – 19:30 – venue area will open at 17:30 TICKETS: R180 – bring your own chair or blanket A few tables with benches that comfortably seat four are available at R1 000 for the table.  About the Fernkloof concert: Daniel John Martin (violin), is one of the most prominent violinists of the French and  international Jazz scene. Andrew Lilley (keyboard) is professor and a founding member of  the Jazz Studies programme at the South African College of Music and Nick Ford (bassist) made his debut in the music industry in 2020 and is quickly creating a name for himself now working alongside South African legends including Afrika Mkhise, Kyle Shepherd and Mark Fransman. Cape Town Philharmonic Sunset Concert in The Old Harbour, Hermanus DATE: Saturday March 16, 2024 TICKETS: Sold out About the Old Harbour Sunset Concert: The Old Harbour Sunset Concert with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Chad Hendricks and featuring Lukhanyo Moyake (tenor) and Siphamandla Moyake (soprano). Lukhanyo, currently a Cape Town Opera house soloist, has performed in numerous leading roles in a wide variety of operas both nationally and internationally. The latter countries include Austria, Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands. Lukhanyo also sang in the Vienna State Opera for several years, was a member of the Wiener Staatsoper ensemble, and with English National Opera. Alongside his career in opera, he regularly appears in concerts, recitals and oratorios. Read more. Siphamandla was a soloist with Cape Town Opera where she appeared in a variety of roles. Major international stage debuts include, amongst other roles, that of Clara in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess performed in Buenos Aires,  Barcelona and France. Her many concert appearances include the soprano solos in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Read more.
