A wonderful programme of jazz concerts has been announced by the Cape Town Music Academy for its Cape Town Jazz Greats Home Coming Series which is happening from March to October 2025. Get Ready for a Jazz Extravaganza!

The Cape Town Music Academy is proud to present its top-shelf jazz series, featuring an incredible lineup of local and international jazz musicians. The series kicks off with the talented Thandeka Dladla!

Thandeka Dladla: A Rising Star in the Jazz Scene

Thandeka Dladla is a gifted singer and composer from Johannesburg, South Africa. Born into a family of music lovers, she began formal classical music training at 12. She later pursued a degree in Jazz Performance at the University of Cape Town.

Thandeka’s voice is ethereal, emotional, and introspective, captivating audiences of all ages. She has performed at various venues, from intimate cafes to renowned music festivals.

Thandeka will take the stage on Friday, March 21, at 8 pm at the Homecoming Theatre (formerly The Fugard) in District Six, accompanied by her stellar band:

She will also perform at the Guga S’thebe Arts and Culture Centre in Langa on Sunday, March 30 at 4 pm, with:

The Jazz Series Lineup

The Cape Town Music Academy’s jazz series will run from March to October, featuring an impressive lineup of top-notch jazz musicians, including both established and emerging artists from South Africa and abroad. Some of the highlights include performances by:

Little Giants, celebrating 25 years – May 24 Guga S’thebe, Langa, 4pm & June 27, Homecoming Theatre, 8pm

McCoy Mrubata Quartet, featuring Gary Wittner (USA) –  July 25 at Homecoming Theatre, 8pm, July 26 at Cafe Roux 7pm, July 26 at Joseph Stone, 4pm

Tutu Puoane and Ewout Pierreux (Belgium) – August 8 at Youngblood Gallery, 8pm and August 10 at Guga S’thebe, 4pm

Mandla Mlangeni Quintet, featuring Yonela Mnana – August 29, atYoungblood Gallery, 8pm, August 30, Guga Sthebe, 4pm and August 31 at Joseph Stone, 4pm
