Exciting news for dancers is the announcement by ACDC of its Open Call for Dance Intersect 2025. Anderson Carvalho Dance & Choreography is headed up by Brazilian-Dutch choreographer, Anderson Carvalho who is based in the Netherlands. The company works on a seasonal basis, project by project. Dance Intersect is a platform which celebrates an intersection of artistic approaches and ACDC is seeking two South African dancers for Dance Intersect 2025. Read on for more. Info as supplied:
ACDC | OPEN CALL DANCERS 2025
ACDC is holding online auditions for Dance Intersect 2025 which will take place in both the Netherlands and South Africa. We are seeking for contemporary dancers with strong technical skills, exceptional performance ability, and a willingness to explore new movement styles. The project runs from May to November 2025 in Utrecht, Netherlands and Cape Town, South Africa.
Residency Opportunity for South African Dancers
Two South African dancers will be selected for a two-month residency in the Netherlands (May–June 2025), including a performance in Utrecht and Kigali, Rwanda, continuing in South Africa till November.
Residency Opportunity for South African and International Dancers
Additional dancers will be selected for a five-month residency in South Africa (July-November 2025), including performances in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Selected dancers will advance to a second selection stage via a Zoom interview. Final selection will include reference calls.
Project terms
– Residency: May–June 2025 in the Netherlands (for selected dancers from South Africa)
– Project Duration in Cape Town: July – November 2025
– Rehearsals: 5 days per week
– Compensation: ZAR 12,000 per month
– Requirements Residency Netherlands: Valid passport (minimum 2 years), full availability starting May 1, 2025 until November 30, 2025
– Requirements Residency Cape Town: Valid passport (minimum 2 years) for non-South African applicants, fully availability starting July 1, 2025 till November 30, 2025
