The Drama Factory in The Strand (about 40 minutes from Cape Town CBD) has announced its back on stage lineup from August to September, 2021. The Drama Factory is an intimate venue. There is an outside area to chill out in, before and after shows and there is secure parking in a business park. The season includes The King Of Broken Things which was staged online at the 2020 National Arts Festival and received a coveted Standard Bank Gold Ovation Award. It will be presented on stage at The Drama Factory, with an-audience-in-attendance. Another exciting mention is The Unlikely Secret Agent. This superb new play made its debut in June at the theatre – to overwhelmingly positive reviews – but the season was halted – because of Covid interruptions. Theatre, music, workshops at The Drama Factory– August to September 2021 The King Of Broken Things – August 12-15, 2021 This is the Cape Town debut of this production which received a Gold Ovation Award at the 2020 National Arts Festival and was also on at The Sharjah International Fringe Festival in Dubai. The King Of Broken Things is written and directed by Michael Taylor-Broderick and performed by Cara Roberts. The Unlikely Secret Agent– August 17-22, 2021 Featuring an award-winning team of writer, director and actor Paul du Toit and actress Erika Marais, the play is based on the Alan Paton Award winning book by Ronnie Kasrils, The Unlikely Secret Agent. “It tells Eleanor Kasrils’ true story of bravery and hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Also featuring Gideon Lombard (Kyknet’s Suidooster), Sanda Shandu, (Skemerdans) and Ntlanhla Morgan Kutu, making his professional theatre debut.
