Exciting news is that the Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival is back in its annual slot – in May. The 18th edition of the popular festival is on from May 20 – 22, 2022. Nine concerts will be on offer. Due to Covid, the pause button was put on the festival, however a mini-festival was presented in December 2021. There was a rapturous response. It sold out. It is great that after the pandemic hiatus of almost two years, the Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival, is back in its original, annual calendar slot of May. There is a bumper programme – three days of “wonderful music and genuine warm Overberg hospitality” in the villages of Greyton and Genadendal (which are about 6km apart). Festival director Coenie Visser, says: “When selecting artists for the festival we look at a combination of well-known and experienced artists, but we also create a platform for young artists. Sunday Kelechi and Craig Williams are up-and-coming and have performed at three previous Classics for All for festivals. This year will be the 3rd time that the award winning Charl du Plessis Trio, is performing at the festival. The festival is a small, intimate and unpretentious get-together for music lovers from all walks of life. The ethos behind this festival is to take audiences on an accessible classical music adventure, catering for the tastes of everyone, from the aficionado to the lesser devotee.” Info as supplied:
Destination festival- music, wine, beer, art
The popular Greyton Genadendal Classics for All Festival was previously known as The Greyton Winter Classical Music Festival. The fest is a destination festival with many people staying over and enjoying the attractions of the towns. Accommodation details, in box above. From May 20 – 22, the charming villages of Greyton and Genadendal in the foothills of the Sonderend Mountains in the Overberg, will come alive again with the magical sounds of classical music during the popular Greyton Genadendal Classics for All festival. The Classics for All festival offers three days of wonderful music and genuine warm Overberg hospitality.
