Stage: The Johnson Jukebox by Godfrey Johnson, fun show with audience making requests

Dynamo Godfrey Johnson is presenting his show, The Johnson Jukebox, tomorrow, January 8. 2025 at the Pinelands Club. It is a new show, presented twice in late 2024.

The concept of The Johnson Jukebox: Johnson provides a programme with a song and poem list of about 70 choices. The eclectic list includes Jacques Brel, Noël Coward, Madonna, Leonard Cohen, Godfrey Johnson, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel, Kurt Weill, Dorothy Parker, Caroline Blackburn, Cole Porter and Mozart. The audience ticks off what it would like to hear. So it is a show created by the audience, with Johnson on piano. He says: You choose the song, the poem and piece!!!! No backing tracks!!!! No scores!!!Just a piano a madman!!!!

The show is about 70 minutes long and is a fun romp with Johnson, a classically trained pianist, delivering surprise arrangements and riffs on dialogue. The audience becomes immersed in the live jukebox.
