The December 2021 season of Sylvia Vollenhoven’s Krotoa Eva van de Kaap, was brought to a halt due to pandemic related issues and five performances had to be halted. Those performances were shifted to now – February 2022 – which is great news for people who were disappointed that they could not see this acclaimed play. I was bowled over by the production and the link to my review follows, as well as an interview with Bianca Flanders who plays Krotoa. The season resumes in the Artscape Arena from Feb 23 to 26 at 6pm, with five performances. The performances [1pm and 6pm] on Saturday, February 26, are sold out. There are single seats available for Friday February 25 and limited availability for Wednesday February 23 and Thursday February 24, so best to book. Do not miss out this superb play which entertains (with on-stage musicians) as it excavates the story of Krotoa Eva van de Kaap. Bianca Flanders is reprising her lead role opposite Geon Nel. Frazer Barry and Riku Lätti return as the on-stage musicians who also take on acting roles. Info as supplied:

Her story, very relevant in contemporary South Africa today, brings to the stage a neglected and contested aspect of shared history in a way that is innovative, deeply moving and thought provoking.
