On stage: Essential watch list – Cape Town, early January 2022
Tonight, December 30, 2021, and we seeing reports from the President’s official twitter account that Rona wave 4, Omicron, ‘appears’ to have peaked. Curfew has been lifted. Caution is still advised – mask wearing and what-what. It is not time to celebrate and we need to adhere to Covid regulations, but and it is a big BUT, restaurants, malls and supermarkets are packed and so are beaches. Check out some of the offerings on in Cape Town for first weeks of January 2022. Wear you mask. Sanitise and support the live performance industry. Cinderella at the Masque is a fun and quirky show. The initial December season has been extended into January – by popular demand. At the Kalk Bay Theatre, I saw, After Dark (sensational) and Popcorn (vibey live band – dance the night away) and had an amazing time. Windows are wide open – ocean breeze – sublime. This is destination theatre. Reviews to follow. TheCapeRobyn has been on Rona duty, delivering food and meds but patients are all vaccinated and on the mend (get vaccinated!). With the new year of 2022, we will be back with reviews, alerts, interviews and chirps -what is on in our beautiful city. A big shout-out to creatives who have lifted our spirits and kept the lights shining on stage.
